MISA Zambia holds it Seventh Media Awards Presentation Ceremony
On February 13, 2009 the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA Zambia) held its seventh annual media awards ceremony which saw eleven local journalists walking away with trophies and cash prize money at a colourful cocktail ceremony held at Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.

The October 30 presidential bye election was from a media point of view not encouraging because it was characterized by a rise in media and freedom of expression violations which saw several journalists and organisations being harassed and threatened by political parties and their cadres.

Zambian Police to deal with Public Officials who leak state secrets
On 15 February, 2009, Acting Inspector General of Police Francis Kabonde said the Zambia Police Service had opened investigations on rampant leakages of state secrets by public officials.

Zambian Constitutional body wont ban media
On 6 February, 2009, The National Constitutional Conference (NCC) Spokesperson Mwangala Zaloumis said that the constitutional making body had no intentions of banning the media from covering its proceedings.

On 10 February, 2009, Father Frank Bwalya carried out a peaceful one-man protest in Kitwe on the same spot where The Post reporter Mutuna Chanda and photojournalists Abel Mambwe were beaten and arrested by journalists.
