Freedom of Information is not for media only
The Media Institute of Southern Africa MISA Zambia Chairperson Henry Kabwe has urged government not to link the Freedom Of Information Bill enactment to media ethics because the right to access information was not only a media one.

MISA Zambia NGC ratified
The National Governing Council (NGC) of the Media Institute of southern Africa (MISA) Zambia has been ratified following an Extra Ordinary General Meeting that was held on 30th April 2008.

Community Radio needs funding from the government
On 15 April 2008 the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia made a submission to the Parliamentary Committee on Information and Broadcasting under the topic the “Governance and role of community radio stations in the promotion of community aspirations and national programmes”.

Photojournalist manhandled by local government police officers
On 25 March, 2008, Makson Wasamunu, a photojournalist from the state owned Zambia Daily Mail was manhandled and harassed by Lusaka City Council (LCC) Police Officers after he took photographs of them confiscating merchandise from street vendors in the Central Business District of Lusaka, commonly known as Town.

Zambian police officers beat Journalists and erase material from camera
On 17th April, 2008, a senior reporter Kaiko Namusa from the state owned Newspaper, Times of Zambia, was assaulted and detained for over an hour at Chipata Central Police for taking picture of police officers who were manhandling a cyclist for allegedly breaking traffic rules.

Media Bodies team up to ensure media law reforms
The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia has said the media in Zambia have formed a united front to ensure that media law reforms take place in the country for the benefit of not only the media but the country at large.
